I've been silk screening for 1 1/2 years now and wondered if anyone else has had a job at a silk screening shop or ever have done it at home and what your thoughts on it are.

 How to Succeed at Silk-Screening
To get the "press" ready for printing, spread glue blockout (or a water—soluble adhesive such as Le Page's) over all of the screen that's not covered by the stencil, as you see in Photo 7.
First, hinge your screen to the printing board, then make your first "positioning" print on a sheet of clear acetate, which should be taped down to the frame's hinged wooden border on one edge.
Then put some newspaper under the screen, flood the cloth with solvent, and rub the inside with rags until the mesh is clear, as shown in Photos 13 and 14.

Silk Screen Prints and Art Serigraphs by Artists of the 20th century
They are individually hand made by craftsman who squeeze printing ink through intricate stencils attached to a fine screen made of silk onto hand made paper, one colour at a time, to produce a work of art.
The advantages of using serigraphy over other printing methods are a greater depth of colour, texture and detail, and in the case of works by Roy Lichtenstein, Henri Matisse and Andy Warhol, the process is identical to how the great artists produced their original artworks.
