Wong Fei-Hung (also spelled Wong Fei-hong or Wong Fai-Hung; Chinese names don't translate well into English) lived from 1847-1924 and was a famous practitioner and developer of the hun gar style of martial arts.
This aspect of the film seems to be aimed at true martial arts aficionados, but taking time to name individual kicks and punches in the middle of a fight sort of works as comedy for the rest of us.

Wong Kei Ying - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kei-Ying was himself a master martial artist and, though not as famous as the son he trained, was renowned enough to be included in the Ten Tigers of Canton, a group of ten of the top Chinese martial arts masters in Guangdong (Canton) towards the end of the Qing Dynasty (1644–1912).
However, the 1993 film Iron Monkey is a fictional depiction of the filial relationship between Wong Kei-Ying and a 10-year-old Fei-Hung and hints at how the younger Wong is shaped by the example of his father.
Some accounts say that Kei-Ying was first taught by Wong Taai (黃泰), his father or his uncle depending on the account, and then later sent to Luk Ah-Choi to complete his training.

Dressed in black and his face hidden by a mask, this 'Robin Hood'-like figure steals from the rich (including the governor and his nine wives) and gives to the downtrodden poor, many of whom are refugees from the surrounding countryside.
Matters are further complicated with the arrival of martial arts practitioner Wong Kei-ying (Donnie Yen, who will be appearing in "Blade 2") and his young son Wong Fei-hong (who is actually played by a girl, Tsang Sze-man).
Yuen Wo-ping may have made a name for himself with North American audiences by choreographing the breathtaking martial arts sequences in "The Matrix" and "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", but in his native Hong Kong, he has been an acclaimed director of martial arts films since 1978.
