Manning on Deconstruction and the Visual Arts
Oswald argues that her contribution to film theory is an effort to go beyond Brunette and Wills' concept of 'screen/play' (a term that marks a significant departure from a tradition of film theory grounded in the photographic image).
While _Screen/Play_ is specifically an alternative film theory based on the writings of Jacques Derrida, _Deconstruction and the Visual Arts_ extends itself beyond film theory to theories of art, architecture and the media.
In the interview with Jacques Derrida many of the questions are geared toward painting and architecture, as well as to the applicability of deconstruction to the visual arts in general.

Brakhage has usually eschewed music as accompaniments to his films, and the editing is less regularly rhythmic than in most documentarians of this tradition.

However, one must also remember that film is a series of photographic images projected successively onto a two-dimensional surface and that, taken image by image, it can best be described in terms peculiar to the graphic artist and the photographer: composition, colour, contrast, quality of light, exposure, grain, filtering.
There are other things to consider when you as essay writer critically examine film.
When one writes about film, it's necessary to keep a number of things in mind.

Photographs in Haunted Rooms: The Found Home Experimental Film and Merilee Bennett's A Song of Air
One of the key strategies of the found home experimental film is the combination and juxtaposition of newly recorded and composed voice-over narration with home photographic images that have been recut, refilmed and/or recontextualised.
This technique furthers the notion that Merilee's film is a continuation of or an answer to the letter(s) written to her by her father, and which she had never previously 'answered'.
This 'film', called Ghost Story, is fragmented and hybridised in the sense that it seems to draw together footage filmed on different occasions that mixes together colour and black-and-white stock.

The reference to photographic plates would according to the respondent not have been necessary if plates or plate material was intended to be excluded from the term ‘photo-graphic film in rolls’.
Fluorographic plates, film in the flat, instant print film of paperboard, offset duplicating masters and lithographic plates are categorised under tariff heading 37.01 and in some cases the subcategories are based on the thickness of the plate or film.
This is borne out by the fact that ‘fluorographic plates and film in the flat’ for X-rays are specifically mentioned under tariff heading 37.01 while it is stated in the explanatory notes to tariff heading 37.02 that X-ray film in rolls is generally sensitised on both sides.

Instant film - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Instant film is a photographic film that is designed to be used in an instant camera.
Instant film is notable for having had a wider range of film speeds available than other negative films of the same era: instant film has been produced with ASA 4 to ASA 20,000.
Instant film is also used by artists to achieve effects that would be more difficult to accomplish with traditional photography, by manipulating the emulsion during the developing process, or separating the image emulsion from the film base.

Photographic film a sheet of plastic (polyester, celluloid (nitrocellulose) or cellulose acetate) coated with an emulsion containing light-sensitive silver halide salts (bonded by gelatin) with variable crystal sizes that determine the sensitivity or resolution of the film.
Photographic prints can be produced from reversal film, but the process is expensive and not as simple as that for print film.
Before this, glass photographic plates were used, which were far more expensive and cumbersome, albeit also of better quality.

 Patent 5496687: Photographic film-incorporated camera
The polyester film has a hydrophobic surface, and therefore it is difficult to firmly bond a photographic layer (e.g., a light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer, an intermediate layer and a filter layer) or a subbing layer comprising a protective colloid mainly containing gelatin on the support.
Hence, the roll film used in the photographic film-incorporated camera is further required to enhance bending strength and brittleness, i.e., property that there is no occurrence of both bending after keeping bending state and breaking by bending.
For instance, the polyester film is subjected to the heat relaxation by 20 to 5% at the temperature of 200.degree.

Japanese Barriers on Imported Photographic Film and Paper
The consumer photographic film and paper industry was identified from the outset as a principal target for liberalization countermeasures.
As a complement, the Government established a regulatory environment to ensure that importers of foreign photographic film and paper would not be able to offer more advantageous transaction terms which might undermine those necessary to systematize distribution under the domestic manufacturers.
Some twenty years after Japan "opened" its photographic film and paper market to foreign competition, importers remain unable to increase their market share in a meaningful way and compete effectively with the dominant Japanese manufacturers.
